*Issa Bagayogo: "N'Tana" (Mali Koura 2008) IB was a Malian singer who played the Kamele n'goni (a 6 stringed W African inst.) He was given the name "Techno Issa" for his use of electronic beats.
*Djelimady Tounkara: "Fanta Bourama" (Acoustic Africa ) Malian musician and one of the foremost guitarists in Africa. He comes from a family of musicians and historians known as griots.
*Cheikh Lo: "Baissons Les Armes" (Balbalou 2015) Vocalist & drummer from Burkina Faso in W. Africa. He moved to Senegal & played in mbalax bands before moving to Paris & becoming a session musician.

*Chris Joss: "Reshaped" (Hyperacusis 2020) French multi-inst. & producer. He suffers from a debilitating sensitivity to sounds, hyperacusis, but still manages to create high energy, intense funk.
*The Mackrosoft: "Tijuana Swan" (Pocket Knife 2020) Aja West, multi-inst. producer & label owner specialized in hybrids of funk, fusion, soul, jazz & electronic music. He passed away in 2022.
*Medeski Martin & Wood: "Midnight Poppies/Crooked Birds" (End Of The World Party (Just In Case) 2004) Amer. avant funk, jazz & post rock trio feat. John Medeski on keys, Billy Martin on drums & Chris Wood on Bass.

*Mondo Grosso: "Kemuri (Retune) feat. Rhyme" (Attune/Detune 2018) Japanese musician/producer composer Shinichi Osawa. Rhyme is a singer & visual artist living in Brooklyn NY.

*Ronny Jordan: "Floor & More" (Off The Record 2001) Ronny Jordan was a British jazz/soul guitarist, composer, producer who passed away in January of 2014.

*Jon Cleary: "Skin In The Game" (Dyna-Mite 2018) British born pianist, singer & songwr. Jon Cleary has been based in N.O. since 1980. 
*Dr. John: "Cabbage Head" (Goin' Back To New Orleans 1992) Mac Rebbenack (Dr. John) became synonymous with N.O. when he emerged as "Dr. John The Night Tripper" in the 1960s. He continued to carry that torch until his death in 2019.
*The Meters: "They All Ask'd For You" (Very Best Of... ) Known as "The Founding Fathers Of Funk" The Meters blended funk, soul & blues with a N.O. vibe. 
*Stanton Moore: "Launcho Diablo" (Flyin' The Koop 2001) Stanton Moore is a native Louisiana drummer & bandleader. Groups: Galactic, Garage A Trois & The Clinton Administration.
